Gil Batle is a self-taught artist whose intricately carved ostrich eggshells, drawings, and paintings transform personal experience into richly detailed narratives. Working across sculpture and works on paper, Batle explores themes of memory, survival, redemption, and the complexities of the human condition through an unmistakably meticulous visual language.

Born in San Francisco, Batle spent more than two decades in the California prison system before rebuilding his life through art. Now based in the Philippines, his work has been exhibited internationally and is held in numerous public and private collections, including the Rose Art Museum, the Memorial Art Gallery, and the William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation.
